What Gubbins is
Gubbins is a memory bank for the AI assistants you use. It holds one picture of your world, where you can read and correct every fact of it, and lends that picture to the AIs you choose under keys you can take back.
The idea, in three sentences
Every AI you talk to starts from nothing, or from a memory you cannot see. Gubbins is the other arrangement: the memory is yours, it is in one place, and every assistant you connect reads from that one place under a key you grant.
Nothing an assistant learns about you enters your Memory until you accept it, and every read leaves a receipt you can go and look at.
Gubbins itself cannot send, post or submit anything anywhere. It remembers and it lends. That is the whole job.

How an assistant connects
Gubbins speaks MCP, the protocol most assistants now use for connecting to outside tools. You make a key in Access, narrow it to the parts of your Memory you are willing to lend, and paste it into the assistant.
From then on that assistant can ask your bank for context and suggest things back to it. What it may read is what the key allows and nothing else, what it suggests waits in Review until you accept, and every visit is receipted.
A key can be narrowed or revoked at any time, and revoking one takes effect immediately.
What this documentation is for
The app itself says as little as it can get away with. A screen you use every day should not lecture you every day, so the detail lives here and the product links to it.
If something in the app is unclear and this documentation does not answer it, that is a fault worth reporting: the Feedback button sits in the corner of every screen.
Gubbins is in early beta and accounts are invite only. Some of what the rooms describe is still being built. Where that is true, the page says so plainly rather than describing something that does not work yet.
